Cant back up WhatsApp to iCloud

I have checked everything and even though I have 2tb iCloud space I cannot back up my WhatsApp convos. It keeps telling me to free up space on my phone.

That's because you've run out of storage space on your device which has nothing to do with iCloud storage space as the two are vastly different.
