Screen unresponsive

My iphone XR shows the locked screen asking for my password, but the screen is unresponsive to my touch. What is wrong?

Hello marthur50. You should try force restarting your iPhone. Push the volume up and down then press and hold the sleep/wake button until you see the apple logo. This is the most standard solution.
