Can't download macOS Catalina from App Store.

I'm using a 2017 MacBook Pro with macOS Sierra (10.12.6). When I press the download button nothing happens. Please help.

Boot into Safe Mode (How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support) by booting with the Shift key held down and and try downloading and installing from there.  Be sure to have a minimum of 25 GB of free space available. Much more if possible.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.
