Giving husband old ipad

I have recently purchased new ipad, and wanted to give old one to husband. Does he need an new apple id, of can I use mine?

He needs his own Apple ID. This link explains what you should do to restore the iPad back to factory for him to setup for his own use --> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Then you can use Family Sharing to share apps with him or share iCloud storage if you pay for a storage plan, etc.--> Family Sharing - Apple
