How do I extend the screen of my 2020 iMac to my MacBook Pro? I would like the iMac to be my primary.

I would like to use my iMac as the primary and extend to the MacBook. I have a Thunderbolt 3 cable.

Notebook models cannot be used as displays. iMacs from 2014 or earlier can be used as an extended display for the notebooks. See Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support and Use Mac notebook computer in closed-display mode with an external display.
