I want to uninstall this legacy system extension how to do it?

Concerning Apple’s announcement regarding Legacy System Extensions, there is nothing we have to do or be worried about. What Apple is telling us is that when the next new operating system comes out (Big Sur), it will no longer allow those Legacy System Extensions which are part of other vendor’s apps. That means that any software vendors who have failed to update their offerings will be incompatible with the new OS. Those vendors have all been told what changes they will need to make to be compatible and I assume they are doing so. The bottom line is this. Before installing the next OS we need to visit our vendor web sites to verify that they have updated their offerings. If an important software has not been upgraded, then it might be a good idea to wait before installing Big Sur. I hope this is helpful to you.

See a list of all the System Extensions:

1. Apple menu > About this Mac > System Report > Software > Extensions, click on Obtained from Header to sort showing the Unknown and Not Signed

To uninstall them:

1. First, search the developers site for an Uninstaller or uninstall instructions (there maybe additional files to remove)
2. In Finder, Go > Go to Folder... and open the "/Library/Extensions" folder
3. By clicking each extension in the previously open "System Information" application you can see the "Location". Match this with a file and move it out of the "Extensions" folder. Restart your Mac and check it works as expected before you delete the extension permanently.

You should always wait a few iterations of a new OS to get the bugs worked out, that's likely a year from now!

The legacy extensions that Catalina is complaining about are on a read-only System partition, and there is no means for you to remove them. If you were on Mojave, or earlier, then they could be manually removed, or possibly by a vendor's uninstall tool.

thank you for that step by step to find the "obtained from" vendor. I seem to have quite a few apps listed here. Are you aware of any major apps that I need to be concerned. i.e. Google Chrome, Microsoft Office, etc? I'm not that worried now but would like to make sure that I am prepared.

Don't worry, I suspect all the major players & many smaller ones will supply updates to take care of it.

"obtained from" would be inferred from highlighting one & look below for Get Info string, like...

Then googling say HighPoint Technologies if you're not familiar with the Developer.

I think Apple did a very poor job of explaining this. But hopefully they handle it better once it happens.

How do uninstall the legacy system I am being warned about?

Are you sure you don't need it? Third party software you've installed my require it to function.

What is meant by identified developer in the "Obtained From" row? Don't worry about it or what? Why don't they actually identify the developer?
