I can not open a pages document, I get message to update pages (5.6.2) I try and get nowhereCan anyone tell me why?

iMac, OS X 10.11

There is no update for Pages v5.6.2, as it was the last Pages release for El Capitan.You may have received an Apple dialog that a newer version of Pages is available, but that only applies to those running macOS Mojave or Catalina.


If you received a document created by a newer version of Pages that used features unique to that version, then you may not be able to open it with Pages v5.6.2, but could with Pages for iCloud.
