iPhone keeps reducing brightness to 50%

My iPhone keeps reducing brightness to 50% when I'm outside and without any input from me. It's bad because I can't read the screen so have to keep manually turning it up to 100% again.

Auto-Brightness under Display & Text size is turned off.

Any idea how I can stop this happening please?

So I called Apple and they recommended resetting the iPhone SE 2020 by pressing the volume-up then volume down and then holding the power button.

The iPhone restarted and - to date - the problem has not reappeared :-)

Still testing but looking good :-)

Hey The_Knowledge_Seeker,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We understand you're experiencing some unexpected behavior with your iPhone display. We definitely want to make sure your iPhone is working for you in all lighting, and we're happy to help.

Checking the auto-brightness was a great first step, so awesome job there. Let's also take a look at the other display settings addressed the resource below. If True Tone is enabled, try turning that off and testing the behavior continues.

Adjust the brightness on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Thanks again, and have a great day!
