Extend Monitor Displays

I have a new MacBook Air with (2) Samsung monitors. I would like to keep my MacBook Air closed. Currently, I have everything working except the Samsung monitors mirror the display of the MacBook Air monitor. I would like one monitor to mirror the laptop and the other to be extended so I can drag screens over to it. Help and thank you!

As I suspected based on the info you provided, the dock is the problem. This is from the product info on Amazon:

As you can see, it shows the Mac 'extend mode = non-mirror mode' – I've never heard that term before, but the image makes it clear that you're not going to get separate desktops on the external displays.

I'd suggest a dock from Elgato, OWC, Belkin, Kensington or Brydge (Stone Pro) as those will provide true dual display support. There's a reason those docks cost 4-5x the one you bought.

MacBook Air Retina, 13-inch, 2020

macOS Catalina, Version 10.15.6

(2) LC27T55 Displays (1920 x 1080 resolution, Intel Iris Plus Graphics 1536 MB

I am connecting the displays using a USB-C docking station.

When I pulled up the About this Mac section, I was able to get the Mac to have a different display from the two monitors. However, the two monitor's when the laptop is closed still mirror each other. I really appreciate your time in helping me with my issue.
