Apple's Notes App consumes too much of battery

Hi

I am using iPad 11 inch 2018.

I lately found that when I work on Notes App my iPad goes hot, and the battery get consumed a lot, even if I merely open the App without doing anything it goes hot.

I calculated how much Notes App uses of battery, and surprisingly it consumed 10% of the battery in 20 min, that is 30% in 1 hour on Apple's own Notes App.

It is annoying that the moment my hand touches the screen and feels the heat nearly at the center while using the Pencil, and also get distracted by how fast the battery get consumed.

I had latest Public Beta, then I switched to iOS 13.7 version.

My notes are on iCloud.

I hope that someone could help me find what the problem is because I use the Notes App a lot for my study.

Thank you.

Hello SKDF16,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

We understand you are seeing some battery life and heat issues on your iPad. We are happy to provide some information on this.

You may notice your device getting warm under certain conditions when being used or right after an update as your device works to reindex and reanalyze data for the new software version. You can see that and some more information about temperature alerts here:

Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable operating temperatures

If you recently updated your iPadOS version from the beta to public release, this may also have some impact on your battery life until the reindexing process finishes. The iPad also has a section in Settings > Battery where you can see your battery usage breakdown by app to help pinpoint where the usage is coming from. Take a look at this guide under the section titled "View your battery usage information":

Charge and monitor the iPad battery

We have some great tips to follow regarding maximizing your battery life so you can get the most of of your device:

Maximizing Battery Life and Lifespan

So we can get a better idea of the situation, could you answer a few questions for us.

1.) How long have you been noticing an issue with your battery when using Notes?

2.) How long ago was it that you changed your software version to iPadOS 13.7?

3.) Do you ever receive any temperature alerts on your iPad?

Best Regards.

Hi DanielleM182

Thanks for your cooperation I appreciate it.

About your questions :

1.) First time I noticed this issue was back in 8th of July this year, but I wasn't using Notes very often that time so I thought it was an update issue, but last Monday I noticed something wasn't right.

2.) I thought also it was the beta version, so I switched to iOS 13.7 public version last Tuesday.

3.) Gladly I didn't receive temperature alert.

Now, I put my iPad on Airplane Mode, turn off the WiFi, and restart to avoid the issue.

I don't whether it is the right solution or not, but at least it worked with me.

Thanks again for your help.
