Changed external monitors thru KVM setup, mac is still stuck on the profile for old (less good) monitor, won't show full range of resolutions

I have a 2018 Macbook Pro

I recently bought a KVM switch and set it up so I can switch between my personal and work computers (stuck working from home)

I bought an ACER K202HQL monitor and realized it only had 1366 x 768 resolution -- it looked like crap

So I switched to an ASUS VE228H which supports 1920x1080

It already looks a lot better, however my Mac is still stuck on calling it the K202HQL and offering no better than 1366 x 768 resolution.

I followed advice about removing the profiles from Display settings, also from colorsync utility, rebooted several times, and it still keeps popping up.

any idea how to get rid of this thing?

It shows as a device under ColorSync even though I thought I killed all the profiles for it.

Turns out I solved this in an extremely dumb way -- I switched which HDMI output each monitor was going to, and that forced some recheck that corrected things.

I would love to know if anyone knows a better way to force the recheck to get the right monitor info though, for future reference.
