Removing (instead of erasing) iPhones from iCloud.com

I am selling a couple of old iPhones (a 6 and a 7). I have removed the SIM cards from both. I went to iCloud.com and removed them from My Devices list but didn't erase either of them. Could that become a problem once the phone is used by someone else?

iPhone 6, iOS 11
