I use Safari as my main web browser on a 13” MacBook Pro. In searching for ways to get rid of searchmarquis, I went to Safari Preferences and under Websites found searchbaron and selected, then chose remove. Now Safari will not launch any of my bookmarks, nor is it able to complete a search. Weirdly, when I launch Google Chrome or Firefox neither of those browsers are able to search or open bookmarks.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Yikes. After closing and relaunching Safari several times to no positive effect. I closed the laptop and left it. Upon opening the top, I found the unsuccessful search I had closed the MacBook on had been completed. Subsequent searches and bookmark selections are also successful. Sorry for my premature alarm. Searchmarquis has been the bane of my existence for many months and I overreacted at what I thought was a final trap.

Thank you for responding. (BTW, I am uptodate with the last Catalina version.
