Unable to access Photos, as it has replaced iPhotos on MacBook Pro

Photos has replaced iPhotos on Macbook Pro, but Photos will not (has never) open. I am unable to access my photos. Photos has never been opened as it gets to no more than 4% then shuts down.

Launch Photos with the Option key held down and create a new library. If that's successful close Photos and open your original library. See if that will let it open. If not double click on your original library with the Option+Command keys held down and repair the library.
