If you have a smart tv but it is not 4K or HD, can you still upgrade to one of these boxes? We have a very old Apple TV box and need to upgrade.

We have a very old Apple TV box and need to upgrade.

The Apple TV boxes work with any TV that has HDMI inputs. They will ‘negotiate’ a screen resolution that works for both devices. From 3840×2160 or 1920×1080 to 640×480, and many resolutions in between.

You can buy one of the current models from Apple, or one of the Apple Authorized Resellers. Your current Apple TV box can’t be hardware-upgraded. It will have to be replaced.

a smart tv but it is not 4K or HD

I always assumed that all smart TVs had at least HD resolution (720p or 1080p), but maybe not.
