Delete all music from iPad and re-sync from Mac

I’ve had tons of issues with my iPad syncing with iTunes on my PC over the years, and had to do a combination of copying, downloading and syncing to get all my music there. I now have a MacBook and have all of my music on it. Is there a way I can “wipe” all the music from iPad and resync it all? I tried to just sync, and now I have multiple copies of songs, some songs that still haven’t come over, and it’s just a mess. We’re talking thousand of items, so I don’t want to have to manually go album by album and delete and copy just to get a “complete” album. Thanks!

Hi Marcus_AFVM,

We appreciate you reaching out through Apple Support Communities for help removing all music content from your iPad so that you may sync the music from your Mac to it. We're glad to help!

You can head into Settings > General > iPad Storage > Music, then swipe left where it says "All Songs" to expose the Delete option and remove all songs from your device.

Here's a guide with more information:

Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your device

If you have a subscription to Apple Music, you may sync your libraries without performing this step by ensuring that the Sync Library option is enabled on both your iPad and your Mac. At that point, changes you make on one device will sync to the other.

This guide explains the Sync Library option in detail:

We're here for you if you've got any questions.

Have a great day!
