Clicking "Update" or "Restore" does nothing, what to do?

I've followed various guides and am getting nowhere.


When I click on "Update" or "Restore" in Itunes for my iPhone6s, nothing happens. I've also tried going into Recovery Mode and same result. I have the lastest version of Itunes for Windows 10 (12.10.8.5). Trying to Restore or update to iOS 14.0.1. Currently on 13.5.

I've tried rebooting Windows, hard re-setting the iPhone, recovery mode, etc. What else is there to try?

It may perhaps help to update iTunes and try again.


Use these versionless links for the current builds of iTunes for Windows for 64-bit and 32-bit respectively.


At the time of posting they fetch iTunes 12.10.9.3.
