Upgrade from macOS Sierra to Catalina

i am using macOS Sierra, want to upgrade macOS Catalina. i downloaded macOS Catalina 10.15.7 but could not install, it requested macOS 10.15 can you help?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.12

The App Store is the only place you can get the full installer for macOS Catalina,

the full installer available will install macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 this is all

you need it is 8.25GBs in size.

Apple removes the previous full installer versions when a newer version is released,

so there are no version 10.15 or 10.15.1 or 10.15.2 etc etc full installer versions available.


The update you download from the Apple Support Downloads site is an update that

requires you to be running an earlier version of Catalina on your mac.


So just to confirm the full installer version from the App Store is all you need.
