HomePod control mystery

I have 4 sets of paired HomePods. Whether I start music from Home App or thru Music App, after several minutes both apps and even Control Center loses control of the music selection and volume. They become phantom HomePods. The only way to regain control is to play music thru the iPhone Music App which sends it to my iPhone speakers and then use Airplay which then asks if I want to replace what’s playing on a HomePods pair. I need to repeat this for each set until they all play the same music and I regain control.

This photo isn’t to illustrate the problem, it’s to show 3 of my 4 HomePods (in this case with different feeds)

iOS 14.2 update appears to have addressed most of this issue
