Also keep in mind that all Mac's including the Mac Mini's are very RAM sensitive and your best bet is to purchase RAM modules directly from either OWC or Crucial.

What drive and how much RAM is in your 2012 Mac Mini?

Catalina runs much better on a Mac that has an SSD and 16GB of RAM.

While the 2012 Mac Mini is actually easy to upgrade. The problem with that is, 2012 Mac Mini is getting old and it would be better to put that money towards a new or newer model.
