Text messaging doesn't work in iPadOS 14?

Hello, after updating to 14, I can send regular texts from my iPad, but

It says it couldn't send (though it shows up on my iPhone and the person replies, indicating they received it).
Replies to and texts sent from my iPhone don't show up on my iPad.

iMessage still works. I've tried troubleshooting using this forum, going into Settings > Messages > Send & Receive to see if some setting is wrong, but I can't find anything. I did recently change my Apple password, but didn't change anything else.

Thanks in advance for any help.
