Transitions Disappeared

So I got a new iMac with Catalina, and tried to download IMovie and it wouldn't until I updated it. So I think I updated to the present one. 15.6.7? something like that. Got IMovie. Did one short video. Went back the next day and no transitions! Tried downloading it again, still nada. I came here to the community and found an answer that I can't find again, but it said to reset by shutting down, pulling the plug, plugging back in starting up again....and voila! They are there! But for how long??? The thread that I found went back to Feb of 2019. SHouldn't it be fixed by now??? It's such a great little program but sooooooo sensitive and buggy. Just putting this up again so maybe someone will make sure it's fixed in the next one. thanks

Try these procedures in order and see if any of them help:

Deleting Preferences

Open iMovie while holding down the Option and Command keys and select to

delete preferences in the box that appears. iMovie will open in a new library.

Reopen your old library to get back to your projects.

Resetting the System Management Controller

Try resetting the System Management Controller:

Resetting the NVRAM or PRAM

Try resetting the NVRAM or PRAM, although this issue would be fairly rare:

PS - I more or less assumed when I pulled the plug and plugged it back in and transitions appeared that that was it. But no, on opening it again after a few days....no transitions again. Must I do this every time? If this was first reported almost two years ago (as I saw on a previous question) why hasn't it been taken care of? It must be Catalina, because I had been using IMovie upgrade in the last two years with Mojave and it wasn't happening then. I have Premiere Elements; I should just bite the bullet and learn it.
