Trying to connect macbook pro with 2014 Imac as display running macOS Catalina

I'm using macOS Catalina, does that mean I can no longer use target display or use my imac screen as a display at all? I recently got a new macbook pro and bought the thunderbolt adapter, is there now no way to use my imac screen due to the os?

2020 MacBook Pro does not support Target Display Mode. Your Mac must be from 2019 or older:
