How do I give points to people?

How do I give points to answers that actually help me? I don't want to sound like i'm a person after points but I would like to encourage others to keep helping others through this website.

There are two possibilities. The main way is with any topic you start (like this one), you can award one Solved and two Helpful marks. A Solved is worth 10 points, and each Helpful 5 points. You can award yourself, but you get no points for marking your own topic responses.

The other is you can click Helpful on any reply in any topic. Once five people have done that to any given reply, that person gets a Helpful mark and 5 points, even though the person who started the topic didn't mark it Helpful.
