iPhone 12 yellow screen

i got my 12 pro yesterday, beautiful machine, but i started to notice some lack of color intensity, i've using an Iphone X for 3 years know, so something was off. I put the two side by side, displaying the same foto, exactly same settings, and it's sad, something is wrong with the 12 pro, the colors are sad and dead and "yellowish".

Any ideas ?

Hello Antonio! I found a solution that works for me and would work for you as well! My new iPhone 12 also had the yellow tint to it so I exchanged it at my local apple store and although the new one was better, it still had the tint to it. My solution is to actually change the color tint of the display by going into your settings < accessibility < display & text size < color filters < turn on and select color tint. You can scroll down and adjust the intensity and the hue. I have my intensity slider all the way to the left and my hue is about 80% to the right which adjust the tint to a more natural color. It has satisfied me and I hope it works well for you!

Best answer to fix this

https://www.iphonetricks.org/how-to-fix-iphone-12-yellow-screen-display/

Basically

  • Open the Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size > Color Filters
  • Enable Color Filters and tap on Color Tint.
  • Move the HUE and/or INTENSITY slider to reduce the yellow tone of your display.

Hold an older iPhone nearby if you need a white screen standard.

try this for now while waiting for the software update if there’s any...

turn true tone off. Then

Setting > Accessibility > Display and text size > Color Filters. Then adjust color tint

Intensity 0%

Hue 70 - 75%

After adjusting, your screen would kinda have a blue tint. So to achieve perfect whites, go to

Setting > display and brightness > enable night shift

Then adjust color temperature to less warm (same as the attached picture. Do not adjust all the way)

Works for me since i was able to match the display of my iphone xs.

hope this helps.

Noticed the yellowish screen on my 12 pro instantly on first use that prompts me to google for this issue in the first place.

Went into apple store to get some help. Compared to few of the displays and mine definitely is more yellowish and less brightness. However the tech guy insisted that it looks the same and suggest turning off True Tone would make it better.

Now, my thing is I should not have to turn off True Tone or use any of the other settings workaround to get a whiter screen. My reasoning is that it just means I’m not getting the optimised full potential of the screen display that I was promised. And being a pricey premium phone, I expect nothing short of the highest quality and couldn’t be bother horsing around settings, wasting time with fixes in an apple store etc.

Ended up getting a full refund. I’m no expert but I think it’s the hardware/ panel is not up to standard instead of a software issue. Have to say I’m a bit disappointed with apple after 10 years of being a loyal customer. Not sure if this is a wider issue affecting more phones or people just don’t really care, but I do hope apple will officially recognise this an an issue and take necessary steps to rectify it.

Adjusting the Hue settings was most helpful for me. I moved the hue to a bluer setting and increased the brightness to get the screen to a setting I'm happy with. Hope it is helpful to others:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Browse for Accessibility.
  3. Tap on Display & Text Size.
  4. Scroll for Color Filters.
  5. Enable Color Filters and tap on Color Tint.
  6. Move the HUE slider to reduce the yellow tone of your display. Tip: You can also adjust the INTENSITY to get the desired result.

I also had the same issue with my iPhone 12 Pro. Further, the screen of my first iPhone 12 Pro was faulty and Apple gave me a new one as a replacement. The new one also had a yellow tint compared to my 3-years old iPhone X.

So I have so far experience from 2 completely new iPhone 12 Pro's and both had non-vibrant, non-crispy screens with a very noticeable yellow tint compared to my 3-years old iPhone X. Further, my wife also purchased a new iPhone 12 Pro that also had this issue compared to her 3-years old iPhone X.

We also went to the local Apple store and compared our old iPhones to their on-display iPhone 12 Pro models, and the screen quality varied a lot, but overall, all 4 of their display models also had yellow tint's and non-vibrant screens compared to our old iPhones.

We ended up returning both our iPhone 12 Pros. I am hoping that this is a problem with their initial batch of OLED screens and as they produce more their manufacturing process will improve. We are very disappointed that our 3-year old iPhone X looks much better than the new iPhone 12 Pro...

I experienced the same issue with an iPhone 12 Pro. Straightaway I thought the screen looked too yellow. Having True Tone on really exacerbated the issue and was most definitely not any kind of 'natural' white colour.

Spent some time with Apple Support troubleshooting but the issue persisted. The support rep. agreed that there appeared to be an issue with the screen itself so I've returned it and waiting on a replacement to be shipped. Fingers crossed the replacement is better but not holding out much hope based on other peoples experiences I've read.

Here's a photo of the iPhone 12 (left) next to my old iPhone X (right). True Tone and night shift disabled in both cases.

Ok so I had this problem when I got my iPhone 12 pro max. I didn’t know what to do.

DO NOT RETURN YOUR PHONE

After you have turned off True Tone/night shift DO NOT FORGET to turn off auto brightness.

I then used a low intensity colour tint to turn my yellowish whites to white.

after 2 weeks of using my phone the yellow glue adhesive has completely settled. The colour tint displayed a blue tint to my phone and I have now turned off any colour tint.

MY WHITES ARE NOW CLEAR WHITE.

DO NOT RETURN.

OK so long story short.

I bought iphone 12 pro max on launch day. Since then changed my device 4 times.

All last 3 had green tints and bad flickering and yellow tint.

Going back to apple like crazy.

Setting up again and again made me crazy.

But in the end my 4th device did the trick.

It has NO green tint or flickering and the display is much better. No yellow hue. I would say still its a bit yellowish (only a bit) than XS max but I can deal with it.

I am happy with it and will keep it now.

I still went through a lot of pain going back to apple and changing my device 4 times, setting it up 4 times.

But what ends well is all well.

Hint: If your device is green and flickers it is a hardware issue NOT software. Return it!!!

Hint: I compared 4 other display models. All were a bit yellow with my XS max. I think this could be fixed with a software update.

Flickering and green tint is hardware issue.

Good luck.

The Apple Chat have put in telephone contact with a technical consultant. By now in the chats assistance they do not do more truoe tone tests etc ... The consultant told me clearly that APPLE IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS WORKING ON IT. Adjusting the colors is a temporary solution that even the technical consultant told me to distort the colors. The only solution is to either return the phone or wait for an update.
