So annoying! How to get rid of searchmarquis.com

On my Mac, when I open a new window in Safari with the “+” sign, the window instantly reroutes to something called ‘searchmarquis.com’ . I have cleared my history, cookies, even cache. I have also set my preferences for the site to “block”, but it still comes up. I’ve tried looking through my applications and CPU activity to see if there is anything suspicious happening that I could at least narrow in on, but I don’t really know what I’m looking for.

How do I get rid of this? Is it a virus? Malware?

You may  have adware/malware installed. Try downloading this program which was written by Thomas R, a long time poster. The program will search for malware/adware. The program will do the work for you which makes it easy. It may be necessary to run more than one scan. After running the scans, restart the computer.

Hello! I tried this and it scanned search marquis.com. Then the laptop restarted. I went back to safari and it didn't go to searchmarquis.com but went on search baron then went to searchmarquis.com. This is nuts, I have never had an issue with my MACs. Anyways, I tried to do 2 more scans and it's not picking up search marquis.com anymore but it is still popping up on my safari. Any suggestions?
