I just started the Family Sharing feature. My daughter is requesting some apps but I am not seeing any notifications show up to approve her request. I checked the Notification Center per the advice provided on the website. Not sure what else I could be doing wrong

We understand from your post that you set up Family Sharing but are not receiving a notification when your daughter makes a purchase. Make sure that everything is set up to use the Ask to Buy feature as described below:
