Hi, i tried downloading Big Sur. at first it started the download but after about 1.4gb it crashed saying installation failed, ''An error occurred while installing the selected updates". every time I've tried downloading it, it brings up the same message. can someone help ?

I don’t doubt it. If this forum is any indication, it isn’t just millions of people swamping the servers trying to download. Each one of them is doing it multiple times!
Unfortunately having the same problem, I’ve reached 7GB of download and then it crashed, I tried to restart and got the same error message. I even tried entering safe mode and running disk aid on my hdd, didn’t help :(

apple system status now says resolved, I restarted and tried, yet im still getting the same message
Apple on its status page says this has been resolved. Not true - I'm still getting the same error message
Mine is working now!
I believe soon it’ll work for every one.
Fixing the issue with the server takes a while to spread over the world.
Just take it easy, it’ll be fine.
