Airplay not showing on menu screen on Macbook

Hi can anyone explain why i can't see the airplay icon on the menu bar of the home screen?

I checked in displays and its default position is 'off' only and share screen when available is ticked.

This was the case on High Sierra and now same on Big Sur after the upgrade. I want to project my screen to a smart TV with Airplay app built in, to present items on my macbook to a workgroup. Thanks in advance

MacBook, macOS 11.0
