I want to update my iMovie but cannot because it says it was purchased with different Apple ID.

I want to update my iMovie, and several other Apple Apps, but cannot because it says it was purchased with different Apple ID. I used that Apple ID 10 years ago but now have used a new ID using the same email address. I think there is a confusion there. Please help as I cannot use iMovie now that I have upgraded to Big Sur.

Delete and redownload iMovie and other free applications. The old Apple ID is stored inside them.

On a Mac, this won't erase their documents, but those should be backed up anyway.
