I am trying to update my mac, the update is timing out. I would like to update to Catalina or Big Sur but that too times out.
I get this image when I try to apply the latest update, it stays stuck at 1.67
And when I try to update to big sur I get the following after a minute or so:

Try the standalone 10.15.6 in Safe Mode, but not using Firefox...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup).
Tried that. Eventually called support. The guy on support said that I just needed to keep trying, switching between normal boot and safe mode. He said it took him 100 times on his laptop.
Needless to say, after having switched to Mac 15 years ago, I don't think I will ever buy one again.
So I found a solution. No thanks to apple.
I activated "Content caching" under Sharing in System preferences, and it worked first try.
Whew, 100 times is crazy! :(
