Volume Turned Down

This new feature in iOS 14 is driving me crazy! When I’m connected to the Bluetooth in my car, about every 5-10 minutes the volume of my music is cut in half and this message comes up. Yes all I have to do is reach over and push the up volume on my phone to return it to normal but it’s still really irritating. The settings also say there is no way to turn off this protection. How do I get my phone to understand that I’m not using Bluetooth headphones? I’ve tried “forgetting” the device and reconnecting it as new but that didn’t work, it still thinks I’m using Bluetooth Headphones. I use an aftermarket Bluetooth device in my car.

iPhone SE, 14

Hi cria56,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with Headphones Notifications. It seems that you are using a third-party Bluetooth connection for your car.

What you have described can happen with third-party Bluetooth devices. If you aren't able to turn off the feature as described: Headphone notifications on your iPhone, iPod touch, or Apple Watch, then you may live in a country or region where the notifications are mandatory.

Please leave Product Feedback.

Have a fantastic day!

Hi MichaelB2019,

Thank you for the response on cria56s post.

I do understand the importance on reducing dangerous levels of sound in headphones.

Unfortunately this do affect many third party devices that are not headphones. Like the car mentioned earlier on.

And personally my saunas integrated audio system.

It would be very much appreciated if there were a feature within the next update that would allow the selection of the Bluetooth sound output as an external speaker instead of headphones.

So we don’t have to step back in time before the iPhone and get separate devices for listening to music.

I sincerely hope that there will be a positive development of this issue.
