Mac Mini (M1) 2020, LG UHD monitor flickers on dark colours.

Just updated to 11.5 today as I saw new update was available, nothing is fixed... :( now this makes me pretty angry about apple as I have never experienced any serious errors like that before. But this one is slowly eating my nerves and impairing my work.

FWIW, I just purchased the latest LG 27UP600-W and it works flawlessly with my M1 MacBook Air. I am connecting via a certified USB-C to HDMI cable. Using at full 4K resolution with the monitor set to DCI-P3 color mode.

Hi Pedro, can you describe the low frame rate issue a bit more? I have the same problem with my BenQ display. And what benefit do you have from the 8k Display Port cable since your new display has a 4k resolution? Why don't you use the HDMI port?

Yes. I totally agree with you. Apple needs to pay attention to this issue. They cannot just bring a product, especially the Mac Mini, since it doesn't have a display to begin with to the market that is supposed to work with only a few selected monitors, that too without any disclaimer on their website. They need to FIX this.

I have just moved down to my French house. My M1 Mac Mini was connecting perfectly to a 1080P Philips TV in the UK but when I try to connect it to my Philips TV (nominally a 4K TV but only on HDMI #1 whereas I am using HDMI #3, which is only a 1.4 input the screen flicks off and on every few seconds. I have tried all different screen pitches and refresh frequencies with no change. Just as an experiment I plugged it into HDMI #1, the 2.1 port and it did exactly the same. My old Mac Mini worked perfectly. I am reluctant to buy a USB-C to HDMI so that I can use my M1 Mac Book Air with the TV, as I suspect I might get the same fault. I have been into the TV's toolbox and set HDMI #3 optimised for computer which made zero difference other than altering the colour balance to a higher temperature. When the actual picture is showing in between black outs, it is just fine.

Any more ideas folks

Hi I am facing exactly similar issue. I thought it was my Acer nitro monitor and got it replaced today but I am still facing this issue. I randomly see gray lines all over my screen and there are traces of previous screen on my home screen too. It eventually fades away after sometime. Does any one has a solution to this? is this a known issue with Apple mac mini M1? or it is my screen? Also can someone post a picture of how it looks? I am attaching mine.

Are you sure by buying usb3 to dp this problem disappear?

Any solutions? Have the BENQ PD2700U and it's flickering nasty on my M1 mini. It comes and goes. It's fine until I open a program like Adobe then starts flickering nasty for a while. It'll fade over time but then come back. Tried HDMI and Mini Display cables. My ASUS is fine but the BENQ is giving me fits.

Yea not everyone has HDR and if that's the fix, Apple needs to fix the issue for non-HDR monitors. I did try resetting my Asus monitor and so far seems to be better but time will tell and also using more than just PowerPoint last night when testing/working.

hey all I’m having a similar issue with an lg 34WL500-B and my M1 mini. Has anyone tried returning their display to the manufacturer for a replacement and seeing if another one works??? I have seen some reviews of my same monitor being used with the M1 without any issues and it’s frustrating 😮‍💨.

Also if anyone has other tips to try for hdr/wfhd/ips/hdmi monitors I would LOOOOOOVVVE to hear it.👍

Yes, is the same monitor and the same problem. I also have no Idea in how to solve this issue. I'm crossing fingers that a fix comes on the next MacOS patch...

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately it doesn't remedy the problem in my case.

It would nice to have some official response that Apple is investigating the problem.
