iPhone 12 mic not working

I purchased a new iPhone 12 pro. When a make a regular phone call the recipient says they cannot hear me talking. When I which to “speakerphone” works great. I did the mic test on the voice recorder and the playback was clear. I even tried removing the case to see if that made a difference. No Bluetooth connected, no external speakers or anything like that.

Anybody know how to adjust the mic sensitivity when making a regular phone call? It’s like my mic is not activating during a normal call.

Hello Clayeve,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We understand that while on calls your callers state that they can't hear you but when you use the speakerphone on calls they can hear you. We're happy to help!

You've done a lot of troubleshooting so far so we won't ask you to repeat the things you've already done. But take a look at the article below and try the steps within this article.

exactly the same problem and in other discussions there are a lot more who have this problem. I'm tired of reading "If the microphones on your iPhone aren't working" suggestion.

I received the new phone and restored my backup. reset network settings, switched off noice cancelling, switched off wifi calls, reset all settings, reset to factory and configured it without restoring old configuration. All the same.

After one hour call with Apple support I sent my iPhone 12 pro in. I got a mail that they couldn't find the problem and I they will send it back to me. Then there was a standard letter with information what they've done: run diagnostics, updated the software, loaded the battery, reset to factory settings.

BUT the phone worked for just one day and now again the same. People can't hear me. Hands free work, AirPods work.

Do you guys also use eSIM plus "normal" SIM, Apple Watch with cellular, AirPods?
