Can I clean my charging port or do I have to have it replaced?

See this about cleaning up the port. It is inside this support document about charging. If your iPhone or iPod touch won't charge - Apple Support

However, if that does not work, Apple does not repair charging ports. They replace devices with an out of warranty replacement. Given the age of the iPhone 6, which is what appears in your profile, I would consider a newer iPhone instead. It would not be a good return on investment to pay to replace the iPhone 6 with a like device because of the older iOS and slower processor. If you cannot afford a new phone, look at possibly getting an Apple refurbished device. Certified Refurbished Products - Apple
