space on disk is full but I have 1TB on icloud drive

Tried to find an answer to this question -- my icloud drive is set up so all the files on my laptop are syncing with it, and I have TONS of room left on the icloud drive. But I keep being told by various applications (most recently, zoom, when I was recording a meeting locally on my computer) that my disk is full, that I need to delete files. When I go to my documents, they appear to all be syncing with icloud. So confused! And desperately need space available on my computer.

Click on finder , take cursor on top menu bar > Go > Home , in applications if you have installed many third part applications / softwares they will occupy major Macintosh HD space , right click on them and move to trash , also if there are .dmg files in trash , if there are more admin users , and their data will be stored in hard drive , in the screen shot see the third , fourth column , if you have create folders there and saved massive photos .

The iCloud storage has different feature and if you have sufficient space in iCloud one TB , you right clicked on iCloud Drive in finder , and used get info it shows one TB ( means there are massive files and most of the documents ) .

Delete the unwanted apps .

I don't understand this response. It seems like the Finder menu bar > Go > Home > Applications direction is to clear unwanted apps. I don't have that problem. In fact, when I go there it is empty. This to me seems irrelevant.


Part 2, relating to Icloud: I know I have a TB of space on Icloud. Therefore there is nothing to delete.


There is not enough disk face on the computer but plenty on Icloud. How do I get my mac to update and store completely on the Icloud?
