iPad as second monitor

I can not get my macbook pro to see my ipad to use it as a second monitor. MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015) running Big Sur and the ipad is a seventh gen using version 14.3.

The macbook reads everything else but the ipad. I have two apple TVs, one a 4k and the other an older Apple TV in the basement and it reads both when I pull up the display preferences. I can connect with the 4k no problem. The macbook even reads the two Rokus we have in the house.

I have gone through all the trouble shooting ideas and reset the two computers on my network and re-signed into my Apple account. But, no luck.

It just seems odd that I can connect immediately onto the Apple TV to display on my smart TV, but the ipad is a no go.

Use your iPad as a second display for your Mac with Sidecar – Apple Support

The reason it does not work is because your Macbook is not compatible

Sidecar system requirements

Sidecar requires a compatible Mac using macOS Catalina or later and a compatible iPad using iPadOS 13 or later.

You have a MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015), but you need a 2016 MacBook Pro or later
