AppleMobileDeviceHelper.app - apps in folder not installed & can't be located in Application folder

My MacBook Pro tells me "You can't open the application "AppleMobileDeviceHelper.app" because apps in this folder are not installed. To open this application, look for it in the Applications folder."

If it is in the Applications folder I can't see it.

How do I go about either finding the app on my MacBook Pro or obtaining the app/app files in some way?

The answer is:

With Catalina there is no longer software that syncs through Music (formerly iTunes).

It now syncs through Finder.

  • Open Finder
  • On left column look under Locations
  • Find Device (iPhone) in list
  • Click on the device (iPhone) and you will be able to see to the right all of the settings for syncing iPhone with MacBook Pro
