Hi Len Goff,

We see you're having issues with unlocking System Preferences with your Admin password. We can certainly understand needing that to be able to work as expected, and we'd like to assist.

To start, we'd advise trying the steps in the "Before resetting the SMC, try these steps" section of this page: How to reset the SMC of your Mac

If this doesn't help, proceed to use the steps on the page to reset the SMC. If it isn't resolved after the first attempt, please go ahead and try the SMC reset a second time, as this seems to help for some users.

Take care!
