My Time Machine hasn't been able to back up for 3 weeks. I had a power outage back then and ever since I get the following error:
The backup disk could not be found. Make sure the backup disk is connected or select a different backup disk.
I've tried restarting my iMac, relaunching Finder, ejecting the drive physically and virtually but nothing has worked.
iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 11.0
Remove the disk from Time Machine.
Open Disk Utility
When it is done and mounted, Time Machine may ask if you want to use it as a backup disk. If so, click yes.
If not, Add the drive to Time Machine.

Under Big Sur, you can’t write other files to the drive independent of Time Machine. The fixes in the article may work, but you will never not see the drive marked read only.
Have you removed the drive from Time Machine and added it back?
You may have to erase the drive and start over.

Does the backup disk appear in the Finder? Have you run First Aid on the backup drive?
It does appear in Finder and yes I have ran First Aid on the drive according to this article: https://www.lifewire.com/fix-time-machine-errors-2259975
Edit: the error is
"Files can’t be copied onto the backup disk because it is read-only."
I might instead erase the drive and start again.
Can you please tell me how to go about doing this?
