I have a late 2015 iMac with 8GB ram(2X4GB), I want to upgrade to 32GB. What would be the preferred configuration ?

If you added 2x8GB modules, it would give you 24GB

If you added 2x16GB modules, it would give you 40GB

If you had to have exactly 32GB, then you would need to remove the stock modules and install 4x8GB modules.

Mac's are picky, the best places to purchase modules are directly from either OWC or Crucial.
