I have iOS 11, so I do not have an option to turn on iCloud for Messages in Apple ID > iCloud. Are my iMessages still backed up when my phone does an iCloud back up? When I get a new phone I would like to have all of my messages transfer over. Thanks!

They are backed up, just not to iCloud so they can be restored from a backup.
