there is no a software update option my macbook air mid 2013. how can i fix it?

That is because, one has chosen not to UPGRADE any further than Yosemite. Now, if one wants to Upgrade beyond Yosemite it will have to be done manually. Follow this LINK and ONLY use Safari in this link and in the following Apple page. FF / Chrome will not work. It would be suggested to Upgrade to High Sierra for now as the leap all the way to Big Sur is not possible from where the computer is right now.

Do a Time Machine Backup before attempting the upgrade to High Sierra and check all Apps for compatibilities and or upgrades to make compatible.
