Two Thoughts:

A. Going Apple-For-Apple:

You need to get a cable. Based on personal experience, rather than get a third-party cable, get oen of Apple brand, as it would be more trustworthy, and is, indeed, intended for Apple devices.

Also...

B. Report this to Apple:

One other thing to consider doing is letting Apple know that you think cables can come with an iPhone. Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on something, the more they will know what is going on, and how they can better suit their customers' needs.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: on what you think Apple should include in the box: the charging cable.
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

This has been known and also shows on the apple website. The new devices (including the watches) do not come with an adapter. The idea is that unless you are a new Apple user or have a really old device then you have access to an adapter already. Albeit if you come from an older iPhone your adapter would be usb versus usb-c. You would either need to purchase an adapter or if you already have one on hand (Apple or not) you can use that.

I think they are referring to the adapter (charging block) not the cable. I agree that it’s best to get an authentic apple accessory versus third party BUT if that’s what the OP has then it will suffice assuming it meets the minimum requirements. Or at least make sure it’s a third party options with the MiFi certifications.

If you had a previous iPhone with a Lightning to USB-A cable and a power adapter use that. You can send feedback to Apple until the cows come home but Apple is never going to change this they have explained at length it is to save the planet. The recently released Samsung Galaxy21 also does not come with a power adapter and headphones. I would say it is a save bet that by the end of 2021 no one will include power adapters and headphones.
