Replacing the hard drive on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro.

I am replacing the hard drive on my mid 2012 MacBook Pro. What are the steps I need to take to transfer the contents of the old drive to my new SSD.

You will find what to do here: Move your content to a new Mac - Apple Support

However, if you have any antivirus software or so-called Mac cleaners installed, remove them before the transfer.

Is your Mac the mid-2012 non-Retina unibody? When you install the SSD, be sure to replace the flex cable that links the drive to the logic board as well. Macsales (OWC) is the best place to find the right replacement parts.
