Duplicated songs in Apple Music

My Apple Music is showing some songs as duplicated. These songs are generally those that I originally had as MP3's on my computer prior to getting Apple Music. There are now 2 copies of these, 1 original version showing as 'Uploaded and in iCloud', and a second version showing as 'Apple Music'.

My questions is how has this happened, and can i just delete the Apple Music version (as the uploaded version should be matched surely?).

Both songs appear to have the same metadata/date of adding to library etc.

Duplicate Songs created in iCloud Is there a fix for this issue? I am not an Apple subscriber, nor iTunes Match. All music purchased in iTunes is duplicated with a copy in iCloud. How can I end this madness? I could delete duplicates to clean the clutter, either iCloud or local copies, but not certain which will assure not losing access to my music. Also understand that the iCloud versions may be of lesser quality. Have not validated this one ... yet.

Duplicate Songs after signing up for Apple Music I recently signed up for Apple Music, and when I loaded up iTunes on my computer I was distressed to find that EVERY song had been duplicated. This question has been asked other times: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7562836 But the given answer to just search for duplicates and delete every other one just doesn't ring true. There must be a better solution!
