Delete Time Machine files from trash

I have Time Machine files in my trash that won't delete. I have tried the SIP csrutil disable stategy, but it didn't work. The files just don't delete. Tried "Better Trash" app's "Force Delete". Did not delete the files. When I info the files, I see "you" can only read files. However, giving Read & Write privileges to admin, system, wheel, everyone still makes no difference. None of the files are "locked". Looking for help. Thanks

Unfortunately, the design of Time Machine makes the brutal solution the only practical one. Consider how long it would take to erase every file on your hard drive. That is likely at least a million or so. Now multiply that by about 50 backups.

Encryption will not be a problem. Just remember to re-format the drive as encrypted. Then, when you setup Time Machine, make sure to check the "encrypted" box. Time Machine will detect that and instantly make your encrypted backup available for use.

You will need to use Disk Utility to erase the Time Machine drive. Hopefully you don't have any files that only exist in Time Machine. If you do, then you will lose them forever.

If there is any doubt, I suggest purchasing an additional external hard drive to use an archive. Then, scour Time Machine and the Trash for any important files and copy them to the archive drive. Once you have them saved, erase the the Time Machine drive and start fresh.
