How to rename a folder name in BigSur 11.1
MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.1
Hello, Sorry I think I have not explained my issue properly.
After opening the Launchpad, I want to rename the folder/group where I have kept applications. As you can see from this screenshot, right now it is named "Untitled", how can I change this name? I have tried clicking on this name but nothing happens.
Clicking the folder name in the Finder may/may not select the name for editing, so I click once on the icon, press return, which does highlight the name, and allow you to rename it. Then press return again.
Well, I have the released 11.2 installed, so give that a shot.
Command-up arrow to go the enclosing folder; click the name (not the icon) and the text will be selected; just type the new name.
FWIW this is not new
sorry but nothing happens when I try it
Yes, you’re right. Click the name, Press Return,...
With randomness, sometimes you can click on a file or folder name and it may allow rename, but it is unpredictably frustrating.
Oh, I had not realized that you mean a folder in Launchpad. I never use that on my mac.
It is even easier: click the name.
Click on the particular launchpad folder to open it. Its name will be at the top of the opened folder. Click once on that folder name to select it, and rename. Then escape key to leave Launchpad.
Tried it but it does not work. Maybe this is a problem with BigSur 11.1 update.
Thank you, after installing BigSur 11.2 my issue is resolved.
That is good news then.
