how do I change from standard to admin?

I have recently bought a MacBook Pro 13 from the facebook market. Unfortunately it has taken me almost a year to change my standard account to an Administrator account. I have looked up youtube videos but none seems to help.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

It sounds like this Mac was not prepared properly for resale...

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac ...

If you can not set up the Mac as new—ie admin user, do not have the current admin account—takes an admin to add and admin:

You do not say what exact Mac—however with all the built security, T2 chip, Filvault, Firmware password, etc— I suspect your hands are tied with a less then ideal situation. No admin would nearly put this in the boat anchor category.

There are many place to buy a used refurbished Mac that comes with a guarantee —Facebook is not one of them.

I am unclear but I suspect it has no trade in value if it does not register a serial number in your name— I bit unclear here, but I am sure they would recycle it for you.

When purchasing a pre-owned computer you should always perform a clean install of the OS by first erasing the whole physical drive before reinstalling the OS (unless you purchased a refurbished unit direct from Apple). Otherwise you have no idea if you have a good install of macOS, or whether the laptop may contain malware or other malicious software the previous owner may have left with the intent of harvesting your personal information (credit cards, login & passwords, etc.).
