office 365 pc calendar data won't load to iphone

I am running outlook under office 365 on my pc. It is a clean version of office, a clean version of itunes, and the iphone software is up to date. When I sync my iphone and ipad (either plugged in or with wifi) itunes recognizes all my calendars, but the data is not uploaded to the idevices. I have reinstalled office, reinstalled itunes, and reset and restored the iphone. Still no luck. Any suggestion

Have you tried just adding your Office account to the phone directly?
